This morning I interviewed Dr. Chaz Brown and Will Reishman, founding members (in addition to yours truly) of the Jackson County Local Action Coalition.
You of all people, realize that these are serious times. Economic pressures mount, opportunities dwindle, while federal and state government policy seems to thwart real progress, while encouraging a dependency on government handouts.
Local government often believes it's powerless to do much about the federal and state juggernauts. JCLAC believes there is a way to roll back this usurpation of local control, and regain a large measure of policy influence over water, agriculture, land use, industry, job creation, and so many other issues through the Federal process of "coordination".
A woman in Iowa is saved from drowningafter her boat went over a dam, and she was caught in "the boil". Her husband drowned, but she was saved by construction worker James Ogelsbee. Here's video of the rescue:
A REAL MAN steps up and "gets 'er done".
You think the likes of Sen. Al Franken would have done this?
Needless to say, the media then proceeded to feed on Ogelsbee's past. (Apparently he was guilty of smoking a non-government approved substance - way to go MSM) Hey, this guy is a hero, he voluntarily put himself at risk to save another. 'Nuff said.
What made this story even more moving to me, is this was a White Construction Guy, you know...the kind of guy President Zero's economic guru despises?
Yep, wouldn't want any stimulus money going to "WCG's" as they're doing just fine...especially when compared to the perpetually-injured classes like women and minorities.
But are the WCG's really doing fine? Sarah Baxter writes in the Times Online that this economy is turning into a "mancession". The Financial Times concurs that 80 percent of the 5.1 million jobs lost in the Obama/Bush recession have been men working in construction, manufacturing, and industry.
These are the people who keep America humming, and they are often the real providers for and protectors of the distressed.
President Zero's economic policies clearly favor the interest groups least harmed. As the military and ham guys would say - WHISKEY,TANGO, FOXTROT?!?!
This administration faces big trouble if the de-mannification of America's workforce continues.
SHOW GUESTS AND MORE
6am - Open topics, Shady Cove's water district issue with Gary Endicott, and then Congressman Greg Walden kicks around the latest on the Cap and Tax Fiasco.
7am - Why "Smart" is the "Dumb" way to go, today's Crimestoppers with Lt. Tim Doney. 8am - Don McCoy talks green at The Oregon Green Expo, happening this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the armory.
DO YOU HAVE A PLAN?That's the basic warning from former Kansas State Trooper Greg Evensen.
My conversation with him this morning may have been uncomfortable for some. His active law enforcement contacts make it clear that authorities are prepared to do whatever it takes to quell whatever unrest may be coming our way...be it from economic issues, epidemic, you name it.
Listen to the podcast for more, Read Greg's Article on News With Views, and if you're interested in him coming to southern Oregon for a preparedness seminar. e-mail me and say so. FIgure it'll cost 1200 bucks or so to get him here. 40-50 people splitting the costs would make it very affordable!
Better to be prepared and never need it rather than need it, and not be prepared. Let's get a clue, and a plan! E-mail Greg Evensen, Go to his Website.

GUEST INFO & MORE
6am - Open topics, and then do celebs really die in threes? Weirdest and worst ways to die are talked about with Harvey Newquist, author of "This Will Kill You". 7am - open topics including the Hyatt Lake drive to place cabin RVs on low density campsites. Redneck Geek sent me a picture of what these cabins look like.
Hmmm...don't see much "V" in those R.V.s. Do you want these up on BLM land? I understand why Hyatt's lease owners want them - they're sweet. However, the listener notes these cabins cover up the spots of more affordable tent sites.
8am - Greg Evensen, profiled above on getting a preparedness plan. Later, Brent Kell from Valley Immediate Care on the business segment. Very cool 5-day promise they've started. You get treated by the doctors there, and within 5 days you can come in for a free followup exam for the same ailment.
Preparedness
Myself and several of my friends would attend if a preparedness program is held near by

Okay, cap and tax is history. It's on to the Senate, where I hope it dies a quick death. Sen. Harry Reid says the bill is DOA, but I wouldn't want to trust him, would you?
So what do we do today? How about help out my a great local cause! This morning I had the pleasure of speaking with Eagle Scout Candidate Jeremy Huard and his father Paul.
Jeremy's Eagle Scout Project is to help build a 1 watt radio station inside the VA Dom in White City. What a great way to help out the vets in the recovery center. They'll program the station with talk, music, whatever strikes their fancy, and it broadcasts all throughout the dom's grounds.
Jeremy has raised 100 dollars already, but it's estimated they'll need 1600 dollars to complete the project.
Jeremy will only accept checks made out to the "Jeremy Huard Eagle Scout Project". No cash, as they're not set up to take cash. There's two places to donate:
1) Drop your check off at the Premiere West Bank in Ashland to Jeremy's fund.
OR
2) Mail your check to: Jeremy Huard Eagle Scout Project, 7905 Cody Lane, White City, OR 97503.
By the way, the VA has signed off on the project, I've seen the paperwork, and its all on the up and up. Any questions? e-mail Jeremy
I'd add that Congressman Walden voted no, and Congressman DeFazio also voted no. The rest of the Oregon Congressional Delegation was hopeless.
MEYER'S MUSINGS 6-26-09
The D.C. "Race to the Carbon Cap and Trade Pit" rages unabated. The
dems won a procedural vote on bringing cap and trade (Cap and "tax") to
the floor. Obama says this bill will make alternative energy
profitable.
Obama is absolutely right - the only way he can make it
profitable is to force you to buy it by taxing conventional energy we
actually use out of existence.
This biggest tax increase on energy in history is very much a black and white issue.
If you love humanity and liberty, you vote "no". If you love power and
control, you vote "yes". It's that simple, and it will be very close.
This vote will tell you a lot about how free we really are, and which people truly want you to be free. While we're on the subject of "Dumbing Down"Telefriend on Twitterfound this video of Charlotte Iserbytte (who I interviewed last Wednesday) about the Deliberate Dumbing Down of America. It's definitely worth a watch.
THIS JUST IN:Timothy Geithner and Ben Bernanke head to L.A. - If they think they can revive the world's economy, why not the "King of Pop"? (hat tip to the Daily Reckoning)
SHOW TOPICS & GUESTS
6am - Former Congressman John LeBouttlier talks Obama's deteriorating poll #s, the hope for GOP and more. We get into open topics like the Yachats Bear woman.
7am - More on the Yachats Bear Woman, is it fair to banish her from the property for 3 years? Later 4th District StateRep. Dennis Richardsonon the extremely sneaky HB2414 which would make a no vote from you on tax increases really mean "yes".
Michael Jackson
Please don't waste airtime on any more limp MJ eulogies.... I have had far more than enough....

MEYER'S MUSINGS What a strange day...Farrah Fawcett Dies, Michael Jackson Dies, Mark Sanford's political career dies...But I don't think anyone will shed a tear for Sanford. I've so tired of Animal Farm politicians. You know "All animals are created equal, some are more equal than others".
One could make the case that the Democrats run more honest politicians, as they don't pretend to be anything other than moral relativists and wealth redistributionists. Dems just shrug and claim "personal choice" when a senator is caught "bending the pages over"
On the other hand, the poor Republicans get worked up when our elected world improvers turn out to have feet of clay. Tell you what, GOP...Don't worry about being perfect, just stand for principle and be honest. Is you're marriage toast? Fine, don't say you're hiking the Applachian when you're really hiking the skirt of an Argentenian.
That being said, Sanford has got to be the most stupidly arrogant pol I've seen in a long time. Glad we found out now, rather than later.
GUESTS INFO 6am - Open topics to start, then Gordon Chang from PajamasMedia.com talks with me about the North Korean Threat.
7am - Commissioner Jack Walker speaks on the split vote Wendesday on the Wyden Forest Plan, and the hopes for revitalized timber. Then a last minute flurry of gun bills in Salem. Kevin Starrett with Oregon Firearms has the latest.
8am The Federal Reserve's Fibs with Currency guru Andy Gause. (Author of The Secret World of Money and Uncle Sam Cooks the Books) Great reading and more info on the fed with Andy HERE and HERE.
The Oregon Senate passes a ban on driving while using a hand-held cellphone. Glad we don't have anything important going on...just a cratered budget, vetoed school funding plan, raises for state poobahs still going through. Yep...a hand-held cell ban is MUCH more important.
In fact, the state is so concerned about your safety, that it's exempted certain state employees from the ban, like fire and police officers and other state agents. So remember, the state is looking out for you. It has NOTHING to do with that pesky $90 fine those evil cellphone-using lawbreaker/driver/terrorists will pay.
In Federal Mafia news....GA Governor Mark Sanford admits his disappearance was due to a "Argentine Affair". I guess the old 134 billion dollar bond smuggling excuse had already been taken. ;-)
In all seriousness, he was considered a runner for the GOP presidential race in 2012. Is anyone vetting potential candidates? Or might there be some "black helicopter" maneuvering going on here? This feels a touch fishy to me.
Tonight is the ABC News ObamaCare Special. One sponsor you WON'T see:
GUEST INFO AND TOPICS 6am - Open topics, the handheld cellphone ban, and laterPhil Kerpen from Americans for Prosperity kicks around the possible death of "Cap and Trade".
7am - More open calls on the state cellphone ban, Crimestoppers with Det. Budreau. (You folks caught last week's dirtbag) Charlie Johnson goes over that "California Collapsing" article. (Must Read)
8am - more discussion on the phone ban, and then a great discussion with jazz trumpeteer Chris Botti, who plays at Britt Friday night.
It could happen soon in Arizona, where the legislature is considering a law that would criminalize illegal immigrants under trespassing law. It would give police the power to inquire of a suspect's immigration status. First violation is a misdemeanor. Second and beyond is a class C felony. Sure there could be some hurdles, constitutional issues, etc. But there's something to be said for immigration law which places the burden on the lawbreaker, rather than the American citizen.
I've commented how many secure border folks have unintentionally played the role of "useful idiots" for big-government security-state Real I.D. plans which database and track regular Americans. This Arizona law may be the beginning of something which actually works.
6am - Open phones on Iran, Immigration law in Arizona, etc.
7am - I talk about the Employee Free Choice Act with D.C. businessman Brett McMahon from Workforce Fairness. Later, Rep. Sal Esquivel and I kick around the school funding, measure 57 and more.
8am Dr. Jerome Corsi from World Net Daily's Red Alert on the Iranian situation and Obama's lost opportunity, plus what's up with the 134 billion dollars in U.S. bonds smuggled into Italy? Later, Carl Worden of Eagle Point has a "Incident" with Jackson County Sheriffs...Sure we'll hear more later on this, and we wrap with Lisa Kelly from Kelly's Technical Automotive.
Haven't been able to confirm this but I'm told from a normally reliable source there was a brand new round of layoffs at Bear Creek Corporation this afternoon - 18 jobs cut, and some VP's. Our thoughts go out to the affected families.
Hope these aren't more of the "Green Shoots" Bernanke and Geihtner talk about. Oregon GOP Plays Politics
I'm very sympathetic to the principles and goals of the Oregon GOP, but I have to smack them on the nose today. Their latest from Salem has them "Standing Up for Oregon Voters by insisting that Measure 57 (the get tough on crime bill) be fully funded".
57 was a Dem-substituted bill for the even more moronic Measure 61. Both are massive prison building campaigns. Both deserved to have died a quick death, but the sheep spoke. (Kevin Mannix deserves being put out to pasture for even proposing 61)
Here's the problem - The state is broke, broke, broke. Yes, the Dems are playing politics by threatening to throw grandma out on the street and closing schools unless big tax hikes are made. Republicans are just as guilty by claiming to stand for "law and order" by paying for this ridiculous ballot measure at this time.
57 and 61 were "nice" if you think more government jobs and expenses are a good thing.
I'll have to talk w/Sal Esquivel about this Monday. Hope he isn't too mad.
