On October 12, 2013, Medford Police were called to a local motel where a housecleaner reported finding $3,000 in counterfeit bills in a room that had just been vacated. While police were on scene investigating, the suspects returned in their Jeep Cherokee. As soon as they saw the police, the two male suspects fled on foot. Officers were able to catch one man, identified as Adam Bennett, but the other one got away. Inside the abandoned vehicle, officers located computers and printers and additional counterfeit bills that were being processed.
