SHOW NOTE: We'll be talking with appraiser Roy Wright on tomorrow's show (7:10am) about the almost 11 percent jump in single family home prices in the latest quarter here in Jackson County. It's certainly good news if you're underwater, but is expensive housing good?
I wonder how would the news react to "IPADS, 20 percent more expensive this quarter", or "Good News, groceries are 11 percent more valuable now". Or how about "Used cars, up 30 percent in 2012". A home is truly a consumer good, and the sooner we get back to that more traditional approach to housing, the better.
All I'm saying is a healthy capitalist system looks at DECREASING prices for goods to be a good thing. Better, faster, less expensive. Think of the overall increase in household wealth we'd experience if everyone's housing bill were cutin half. Yep, you could save, invest, or purchase other goodies more useful to your life.
