5-YEAR OLD BOY TERRORIZED IN GOVERNMENT SCHOOL OVER CAP GUN
Another day, and yet another little boy gets interrogated until he wets his pants over his toy cap gun which he brought to his neighborhood government indoctrination center. Mom doesn't help - “I have no problem that he had a consequence to his behavior I have a problem with the severity”.
Good parents would call for the heads of the officials pushing such tyranny.
ANOTHER GUN STORY WE TALKED ABOUT TODAY - COREY THOMPSON
There are so many things wrong with this story:
1) The reporter's multiple references and emphasis on the loaded term "Assault Rifle". Corey Thompson doesn't have an assault rifle. He has a semi-automatic rifle. In my "Bubble-headed News Reporter Style Guide", (I need to write that guide, btw) the term "Assault rifle" will be used ONLY to describe a fully automatic machine gun. (You know, the ones police departments, SWAT teams, and soldiers have)
2) Corey admits to firing a "Warning Shot" - This is a guaranteed ticket for the local policy officers to arrest you for breaking the rules. Corey did what is a rational action. Unfortunately, rational action doesn't jibe with Oregon's use of lethal force laws.
3) The fact that Corey Thompson admits ANYTHING to the police. I get it, you're only human. You had a felonious dirtbag try to break in your apartment out on Table Rock. You don't want to kill the dirtbag, and fire a warning shot. You're hopped up on adrenaline, know you're the good guy, and want to spill your guts to the cops.
As hard as it is to do, you have to fight the urge to talk to police after shooting. Better to call the lawyer, and tell the police you'll cooperate, but need to talk with your lawyer first.
That would've been ideal, and here's why: The police ask "why did you fire a shot at the dirtbag?" Your good lawyer advises you to say "Because I was fearful for my life", or some other appropriate response. This is what lawyers do, look out for your rights, and keep you from having your stuff stolen by police, and you being thrown into a government cage.
