A 25-year-old woman has drowned after she became trapped underwater on the Coquille River. Kristle Volin, a Coquille Watershed Association employee from Coos Bay, was working with an Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife employee on the river yesterday when her pontoon boat capsized due to a fallen tree. Volin's life jacket snagged, and rescuers had to deflate the boat to free her. A Coast Guard helicopter flew the woman to a local hospital but, she was dead on arrival.
