The Jackson County Sheriff's Office has officially confirmed the identity of the skeletal remains found in the foothills of Central Point on Saturday. Police say the remains are those of 46-year-old Rachel Rice, who was last seen walking barefoot on Old Stage Road near Old Military Road back on August 3, 2005. Rice had a long history of mental illness. The Medical Examiner was able to confirm her identity through dental records. A formal autopsy is scheduled for today.
