11-27-12 PHOENIX HIGH SCHOOL RECEIVES GRANTS, GETS NEW BAND UNIFORMS

Nov 27, 2012 -- 9:06am

After 34 years, members of the Phoenix High School marching band are sporting brand new uniforms. The school was named one of 15 recipients of the Pepsi "Refresh" community grant program last October. The grants were awarded based on the number of votes each school received. In 2010, the school came up short in the voting. But a second round of voting resulted in a much better vote count for Phoenix. Most band uniforms have a lifespan of 10 to 15 years. The school's old band uniforms were more than three decades old. Each of the 70 uniforms cost about $350.
