President Barack Obama wins re-election over republican challenger Mitt Romney. (Some claim Ohio is still in play, we'll see) In state wide issues, the prohibition on real estate transfer taxes passes, recreational marijuana is defeated, no private casinos either, corporate kicker tax reform for schools has passed, repealing the inheritance tax fails.
In U.S.. races of note Congressman Peter DeFazio wins over Art Robinson, Kate Brown remains Secretary of State over heavily endorsed Knute Buehler, , Ted Wheeler wins as state treasurer, Ellen Rosenbloom for attorney general gets the nod over James Buchel, Brad Avakian remains the labor commissioner.
Local races it’s tight but Doug Breidenthal leads Jeff Scroggin for Jackson county commissioner, 48 to 46 percent. The Medford pool levy fails, fire district 5’s bond also fails, Ashland’s library levy passes, Ashland mayor remains John Stromberg, Jackie Agee, Greg Lemhouse and Rich Rosenthal win Ashland City Council seats. There will be No city of White City, Benjamin Bloom holds off challenger David Orr for Jackson county judge district 7, Dick Gordon over Curt Ankerberg in the City of Medford Council race ward 1. Eli Matthews wins in Ward 2,
Central Point City Council has Rick Samuelson and David Douglas winning seats. Paul Becker wins as Mayor of Jacksonville, and Criss Garcia, David Jesser, and Jocie Wall win Jacksonville city council seats. All Jackson County Race info is here:
