12-28-16: SHERIFF FALLS EXPLAINS HIS REASON FOR LEAVING. COUNTY RESPONDS.

STRONG WORDS CAME FROM SHERIFF COREY FALLS TOWARD COUNTY LEADERS AT A TUESDAY NEWS CONFERENCE. HE STATED THAT PART OF HIS REASON FOR STEPPING DOWN WAS THAT HE’D EXPERIENCED DISCRIMINATION AND CONDENSCENDING BEHAVIOR FROM COUNTY ADMINISTRATION. SHERIFF FALLS SPOKE OF HIS NEW OPPORTUNITY AT A NEW DEPARTMENT, AND THAT HE WAS ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT TAKING THE POSITION. SHERIFF FALLS’ FINAL DAY AS SHERIFF WILL BE FRIDAY.

 

IN THE MEANTIME, THE JACKSON COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS RELEASED A STATEMENT TUESDAY IN RESPONSE TO SHERIFF FALLS’ ALLEGATIONS OF HARASSMENT AND DISCRIMINATION. IN THE STATEMENT, THE BOARD ASSURES THAT THE COUNTY POLICY IS THAT ALL EMPLOYEES CAN WORK IN AN ENVIRONMENT, FREE OF HARASSMENT AND DISCRIMINATION, AND THAT ANY AND ALL CLAIMS ARE TAKEN SERIOUSLY.
