A GRANTS PASS DEPARTMENT STORE WAS EVACUATED YESTERDAY BY THE CITY’S DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY, AFTER A 911 CALL THURSDAY MORNING. AN EMPLOYEE TOLD POLICE THAT A WOMAN WAS IN THE STORE WITH A BUTCHER KNIFE, CUTTING HERSELF AND LEAVING A BLOOD TRAIL THROUGH THE AISLES. AFTER TWO HOURS OF NEGOTIATIONS, THE WOMAN SURRENDERED TO POLICE.

SOON AFTER THE DEPARTMENT STORE SITUATION, GRANTS PASS POLICE ARRESTED A 29-YEAR-OLD MAN AFTER ANOTHER TWO HOUR STANDOFF, THIS TIME ON NORTHWEST HIGHLAND AVENUE. THE MAN WAS WANTED ON A STATEWIDE FELONY WARRANT FOR PAROLE VIOLATION.
