OVER THE WEEKEND, FIRE AGENCIES WERE BUSY, AS SOME 1,600 LIGHTNING STRIKES CAME DOWN, STARTING SEVERAL SMALL FIRES. BUT, THE LIGHTINING CAME WITH ABOUT AN INCH OF RAIN, THE ROGUE RIVER – SISKIYOU NATIONAL FOREST SAYS IT RESPONDED TO ONLY 13 SMALL FIRES. ALL OF WHICH HAVE BEEN CONTAINED.

A SPOTTER PLANE, WORKING FOR THE OREGON DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY HAD TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY LANDING, CITING AN APPARENT ENGINE MALFUNCTION FRIDAY EVENING, IN THE AREA OF RUSTLER PEAK NEAR PROSPECT. THE PLANE WAS ABLE TO LAND SAFELY. THE PILOT AND OBSERVER REPORTED NO INJURIES.
