AN UPDATE OF WILDFIRES BURNING NEARBY. THE FLOUNCE FIRE LIES ABOUT 12 MILES NORTH OF SHADY COVE, AND JUST A COUPLE OF MILES FROM LOST CREEK LAKE. AT PRESENT, THE FIRE IS ABOUT 690 ACRES, AND IS ABOUT 10% CONTAINED. THE SPRUCE LAKE FIRE IN CRATER LAKE NATIONAL PARK IS JUST OVER 4700 ACRES, AND IS ABOUT 31% CONTAINED. THE BLANKET CREEK FIRE IS SIX MILES EAST OF PROSPECT, IS ABOUT 4800 ACRES, AND IS NEARLY 40% CONTAINED.

SOME SMALLER FIRES BURNING NEAR US, INCLUDE THE STRATTON CREEK FIRE, SEVEN MILES NORTHWEST OF MERLIN IS ESTIMATED TO BE ABOUT 30 ACRES, NO WORD ON CONTAINMENT AS OF YET. THE REUBEN FIRE IS ROUGHLY FIVE MILES NORTH OF GRAVE CREEK BRIDGE AND THE ROGUE RIVER TRAIL. IT’S 100% LINED AT JUST OVER 10.5 ACRES. AND, THE DOE SPRING FIRE IS JUST OFF THE JOSEPHINE/DOUGLAS COUNTY BORDER, NORTH OF MT REUBEN. FIREFIGHTERS HAVE NEARLY LINED THE FIRE AT ABOUT 6.5 ACRES.

THE OREGON DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY HAS REPORTED AT LEAST 20 NEW FIRE STARTS SINCE THURSDAY MORNING. ONE OF WHICH WAS THE DOUBLE DAY FIRE, NEAR BUTTE FALLS. CREWS WERE ABLE TO LINE THE FIRE QUICKLY, BUT SOME LOW FIRE ACTIVITY REMAINS. THE FIRE SITS AT 7.5 ACRES.
