Stand for climate truth.

Ed Berry, Ph.D., Physics, CCM

In the late 1960s, I traveled to South Africa. I saw children with their legs bound to purposely turn them into cripples for life, presumably so they would make money from donations.

Today, I see children in America and other countries with their minds bound to purposely turn them into mental cripples for life, presumably so they will support votes for a political cause that in the end will destroy their own country. These children have suffered mind-warping child abuse. This abuse has caused them mental and physical harm.

What is worse? A crippled leg or a crippled mind?

Those born after about 1995 have been severely harmed. Their teachers, media, and government have programmed them from early ages to believe human CO2 is destroying their world. Their teachers have used fear to make them believe. Fear is known to be the most permanent way to program children’s minds to believe anything.

Their teachers have molded these children into a climate alarmist cult that rejects true science. Once inside the cult, the children can no longer think for themselves. They become servants of the BORG that controls them.

The young people that become climate alarmists have never been taught true science. For example, how many young people can understand the following simple science?

Climate alarmists make four invalid claims:

  1. Human CO2 has caused all the increase in atmospheric CO2 above 280 ppm.
  2. Increased atmospheric CO2 causes global warming.
  3. Global warming causes bad stuff to happen.
  4. Therefore, human CO2 causes bad stuff to happen.

Let’s focus on claim #1. Here is why it is wrong:

  • Simple physics shows that human CO2 causes about 18 ppm of today’s 410 ppm level of atmospheric CO2, while natural CO2 causes 392 ppm. Human CO2 is insignificant to climate.
  • By contrast, the IPCC claims that human CO2 causes 130 ppm of today’s 410 ppm, while natural CO2 causes 280 ppm.

IPCC is the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

It is easy to prove with high-school physics that the IPCC claim is wrong. According to the UN IPCC, the annual flow of human CO2 into the atmosphere is about 4.4 ppm per year and the natural CO2 inflow is about 98 ppm per year.

According to simple physics and common sense, the percent of human CO2 in the atmosphere equals the percent of human CO2 in the inflow. It is like a recipe. What you put into a bowl is what is in the bowl.

So, get your calculator and do the math. The total of 4.5 ppm per year and 98 ppm per year is 102.5 ppm per year inflow into the atmosphere. The human contribution is 4.5 divided by 102.5 or 4.4 percent. Therefore, the contribution of human CO2 to atmospheric CO2 is 0.044 times 410 ppm or 18 ppm.

Therefore, reducing human CO2 emissions will not reduce atmospheric CO2 enough to make any difference in the climate. Alarmism is junk science. There is no climate emergency.

Also, the physics model explains why continuing human CO2 emissions will not further increase atmospheric CO2 … but that is another subject.

How do the IPCC and climate alarmists justify their claim that human CO2 increased atmospheric CO2 by 130 ppm?

Answer: They reject physics. We are not talking about rocket science here. We are talking about what they should have learned in high-school physics.

One IPCC argument is that natural CO2 flows freely out of the atmosphere, but human CO2 goes into 4 bins. The CO2 in the first bin flows freely out of the atmosphere. The CO2 in the second bin flows slowly out of the atmosphere. The CO2 in the third bin flows very slowly out of the atmosphere. And the CO2 in the fourth bin stays in the atmosphere forever. This claim is junk science. It is like a wee-wee-wee 4-little-piggy nursery rhyme.

Figure 1 illustrates IPCC’s 4 bins for human CO2.

Everyone who believes this wee-wee-wee 4-little-piggy argument rejects science. IPCC scientists believe it. National Climate Assessment authors believe it.  Climate alarmists believe it. Too bad they are all wrong.

The truth is nature can’t tell the difference between human and nature CO2 because CO2 molecules are identical no matter what their source.

Download two new scientific papers as free PDF files.

Two recent peer-reviewed scientific publications prove the IPCC alarmist theory is wrong. Both show why human CO2 does not change atmospheric CO2 enough to change the climate. Both prove the UN IPCC climate theory is wrong.

Please click on the links and download these two papers. Every download adds to the attention a paper gets. You may be surprised that you can understand much of my scientific paper even if you are not trained in science.

Please bring these two scientific papers to the attention of your elected representatives and conservative media. You will help bring climate truth to the people. You can make a difference.

Also, notice these papers are not “opinions” because the climate alarmists will try to pass them off as such. These papers are slam-dunk proof the IPCC is wrong. They will prevail in court if a smart lawyer uses them.

Science, like legal trials, has a default position. Most law, for example, assumes an accused person is innocent until proven guilty. The same holds for science. The default position (known as the null hypothesis) is that all climate change is assumed to be natural until proven to be human-caused. Human CO2 is innocent until proven guilty.

No one has proved that human CO2 causes climate change because natural CO2 prevails over human CO2 in the atmosphere. Natural CO2 emissions increased since 1750 enough to increase atmospheric CO2 from 280 ppm to 392 ppm. The human effect is only an additional 18 ppm. The human effect on climate is completely negligible and removing it completely will not eliminate the dominant natural climate change.

The two referenced scientific papers take the additional step. They prove all the IPCC arguments, that the IPCC uses to claim a human cause, fail science. Checkmate. These papers cannot be ignored in any serious discussion of climate change.

Help me bring climate truth to the world.
Imagine a world with no climate alarmism. We would be able to focus on things that matter and not waste our time and money on climate distractions. Junk climate science would not distort politics and the economy. Colleges would not require students to join sustainability programs. Kids would not proclaim climate emergencies. Governments would save money. Power generation would be more reliable and cost less. Children and students would learn real science rather than fake science. It might help them pay off their college loans.

I am building a new website where we can work together to accomplish this goal. It will be a membership website where you can interact with other people. It will include seminars that explain in ordinary language why climate alarmists are wrong. It will provide the science and explanation necessary to win in public debate, but we will not be distracted by more science than is necessary to achieve our political goals. It will provide the simplest and most powerful arguments that you can use to counter the climate alarmists.

We have already won the science debate, but few people understand this. The alarmists have no scientific case. Now we must win the political debate.

Several people have offered to help fund my work. I thank them very much. My new website will make this possible. The work we plan to do will require money.

Already, thousands of people have signed up on my email list. If you are not already on my email list, you may sign up on edberry.com to get information about what I am doing.

Our task is great. We must show the public why human CO2 does not change the climate. Our goal is to get climate change out of politics and back into science.

The idea that we have a “climate emergency” is a product of a crippled mind.

Our job is to stand for climate truth.

The Supreme Court cleared the way for the Trump administration to tap billions of dollars in Pentagon funds to build sections of a border wall with Mexico.

The court’s five conservative justices gave the administration the green light on Friday to begin work on four contracts it has awarded using Defense Department money. Funding for the projects had been frozen by lower courts while a lawsuit over the money proceeded. The court’s four liberal justices wouldn’t have allowed construction to start.–AP

7:35 Michael Cross, Lead Petitioner for FlushDownKateBrown.com talks with Bill today. Right now there are two petitions running out there to recall Governor Kate Brown. Michael runs one of them. We’ll tell you all about it.

8:10 Christina Martin, Attorney with the Pacific Legal Foundation’s Florida office in Palm Beach Gardens, talks with Bill. Christina also served as co-counsel and second chair before the U.S. Supreme Court in Knick v. Township of Scott.

Today, we’ll talk with Christina about how Oregon profits from tax sales, keeping the profit when selling properties where owners couldn’t pay the taxes.

The following op-ed written by Christina Martin  was submitted to The Oregonian back in April of 2019. It’s about Oregon’s abusive tax foreclosure law.

It’s all about what happens when an owner doesn’t pay or falls behind on paying their property taxes. As you mentioned, the local government can seize the property, sell it and keep every penny — no matter how small the debt or how large the profits.

But as Christina writes below, there is a solution. Representative Ron Noble recently proposed a law to entitle former owners to the profits from the sale of their property. So far, the legislature has failed to move Noble’s bill, let alone give it a public hearing.  The Oregonian did accept it until they found out the bill (HB3199) hit a dead end in the revenue committee, which never even scheduled it for a hearing.

Christina co-authored this with Mary Starrett, vice chair of the Yamhill County Commission.

Legislature should end the legalized plunder of Oregon’s foreclosure law

By Christina Martin and Mary Starrett

Many of Oregon’s political leaders take pride in what they see as the state’s progressive reputation. They’d have us believe they’re protecting the vulnerable and struggling citizens of Oregon against abuse by the powerful.

But while Oregon’s progressive leaders are patting themselves on the back, they might stop to consider why their state is so eager to enrich local governments by seizing the homes and devouring the life savings of the most vulnerable property owners.

According to state law, when an owner falls behind on paying their property taxes for too long, the local government can seize the property, sell it and keep every penny — no matter how small the debt or how large the profits.

That’s what happened to Allen Reinmiller of Aurora. When Reinmiller failed to pay his property taxes, Marion County officials seized his entire property as payment for a $14,216 in penalties, back taxes, interest and costs. County officials then sold the property for $167,000, without returning the profits exceeding his debt to Reinmiller — a $152,784 windfall for the government.

It was a great deal for the county government, but not so much for Reinmiller, who had paid taxes on the land for more 20 years before he lost all his equity. In the end, the county took everything.

Sound outrageous? It is — and it’s legal in supposedly “progressive” Oregon.

It’s easy to envision how this practice creates a perverse incentive for government officials to foreclose on citizens’ property, since it’s a relatively easy way for cash-strapped local governments to boost revenue.

Unfortunately, someone is paying the cost, as such laws disproportionately hurt the financially distressed, the elderly (who are far more likely to own their property without a mortgage) and the sick (often people who struggle with dementia or have been hit with severe medical problems that leave them struggling financially or mentally).

Oregon’s abusive tax delinquency policy is in stark contrast to how property owners are treated in neighboring states like California, Washington, and Idaho. In those states, it’s also legal to seize and sell property if the owners don’t pay their taxes. However, once the debt is covered, governments are required to refund the excess proceeds to the former owner.

There is nothing “progressive” about Oregon’s tax foreclosure law. It’s little more than legalized plunder. In fact, many courts around the country have already recognized that similar laws violate the U.S. Constitution’s mandate that government pay just compensation when it takes private property for a public use.

Oregon’s legislature could easily remedy this problem. Representative Ron Noble recently proposed a law to entitle former owners to the profits from the sale of their property. So far, the legislature has failed to move Noble’s bill, let alone give it a public hearing.

Predictably, many county officials have protested Noble’s proposed fix, arguing that state law gives property owners adequate time to catch up on their debts or sell the property. While it is true the law gives Oregonians several years to save their property, that long grace period does not remedy the law’s fundamental problem of allowing government to seize more than it is owed in taxes, penalties, interest and costs.

Moreover, it’s hard to escape the conclusion that these officials are simply trying to protect a cozy racket that brings much-needed revenue into the county treasury. So what if a few vulnerable citizens are left destitute, right?

The counties are on the wrong side of this issue, and they would be wise to fix the law while they can to avoid huge financial liability. Officials are only a court decision away from being required to pay back that which they unjustly took from the vulnerable.

While one federal trial court rejected such arguments in Reinmiller’s case several years ago, the issue is anything but settled. The U.S. Supreme Court has never decided the issue, though there are plenty of cases outside Oregon that could make it before the country’s highest court in the near future.  Such cases, like that of Uri Rafaeli of Michigan, who lost a house because he accidentally underpaid his property taxes by $8.41, underscore the absurdity and injustice of any law that lets the government take more than it is owed.

If Oregon is truly committed to the cause of progress, it’s time for state legislators to put an end to these crooked foreclosure practices, once and for all.

Christina Martin is an attorney at Pacific Legal Foundation who is representing Uri Rafaeli and other clients in lawsuits challenging the unjust and unconstitutional taking of their equity.

Mary Starrett is vice chair of the Yamhill County Commission. At her request, Representative Noble sponsored legislation to end Oregon’s unconstitutional taking of equity.

The Wolf Creek Inn

By Dennis Powers

Built in 1883 as a prime stop on the Applegate Trail–including those on the road traveling the Oregon Stage Coach line between Portland and Sacramento–the Wolf Creek Inn is located twenty-five miles north of Grants Pass; and it has sheltered weary travelers longer than any other hotel in Oregon. The large wooden, two-story building with high-pitched roofs, a colonnaded front porch and upper deck, and wider back had nine guest rooms, complete with dining, reading, and lounging facilities.

Merchant Henry Smith contracted to have the premises constructed, and the lodgings were advertised as a “first-class traveler’s hotel.” It was named the Wolf Creek Tavern, which was an old English term for a hotel or lodgings that served food. Smith also accumulated large land holdings in the 1880s, and he planted orchards that are still in existence. The large apple and pear trees next to the Inn and north of the dining room date back to an orchard planted in 1885. The Wolf Creek Inn changed over time from a stagecoach stop, then as a cowboys’ and miners’ lodging with a hot meal and clean bed, and then to automobile travelers with celebrities.

Jack London stayed at the Inn in 1911 for several weeks, while he worked on the porch and hiked for a break through the forests behind it. During this time, he wrote a short story entitled “The End of the Story.” He also completed his novel “Valley of the Moon” during another stay. Jack London’s room is on the second floor at the front, and it shows now much as it would have then. A trail near Wolf Creek winds its way to a peak named for Jack London, owing to the time he spent in the area. The summit overlooks Wolf Creek Valley and the tiny town of Wolf Creek.

During the 1920s and 1930s, numerous celebrities visited the Inn, including Clark Gable, Carole Lombard, Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks Jr., and Orson Wells. Best known for his role as Rhett Butler in “Gone with the Wind,” Gable was a good friend of the innkeeper in the 1930s and several times stopped by. He enjoyed fly fishing in the Umpqua River a few miles away, staying before and also when married to his wife, Carol Lombard.

When the Inn needed repairs, the State of Oregon acquired it and land on Wolf Creek’s north bank in 1975 to preserve the historic hotel. Reviewing the original floor plans, wall coverings, and its history, carpenters and craftsmen rebuilt the structure to bring back the look and feel of the mid 1920’s. The process took four years and the restored Inn is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Although closed for three years for more renovations and then reopened in 2017, the Inn offers overnight stays with different activities, including dinner theatres–all located in the town of Wolf Creek, 1/4 mile from I-5 at Exit 76.
