THE KLAMATHON FIRE, BURNING IN SISKIYOU AND JACKSON COUNTIES, AT LAST CHECK, HAS HELD STEADY, AROUND 36,500 ACRES. CREWS NOW HAVE THE FIRE AROUND 65% CONTAINED.

SISKIYOU COUNTY SHERIFF JON LOPEY HAS IDENTIFIED ONE MAN WHO WAS KILLED AS A RESULT OF THE FIRE. HE SAYS THAT 72 YEAR OLD JOHN KARL BERMEL WAS FOUND ON HIS PROPERTY IN HORNBROOK. SHERIFF LOPEY SAYS THAT THE EVIDENCE SHOWS THAT MR. BERMEL WAS IN THE MIDST OF EVACUATING WHEN HE AND HIS PICKUP WERE OVERCOME BY FLAMES.
