A LARGE GROUP OF GRANTS PASS RESIDENTS AND MERCHANTS GATHERED AT WEDNESDAY’S CITY COUNCIL MEETING TO ADDRESS THE SO-CALLED STREET PREACHERS THAT GATHER AT EVENTS SUCH AS FIRST FRIDAY LIVE. THEY CLAIM THAT THE GROUP, KNOWN AS RV SALTSHAKERS, CAN BE CONFRONTATIONAL, ALONG WITH THEIR GRAPHIC, ANTI-ABORTION MESSAGE. MERCHANTS SAY THAT THEY ARE DRIVING BUSINESS AWAY FROM THE AREA.

FURTHERMORE, WITH SOME COMPLAINTS FILED WITH THE CITY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY, CITY ATTORNEY MARK BARTHOLOMEW IS NOW LOOKING INTO ACTIONS THAT THE CITY COULD TAKE. RV SALTSHAKER’S LEADER JON CLEMENT SAYS HE SEES NOTHING WRONG WITH WHAT THEY ARE DOING, AND REJECTS CLAIMS THAT THEY ARE A “HATE GROUP.”
