AN ORDINANCE IS BEING TALKED OVER IN THE ASHLAND CITY COUNCIL WOULD ALLOW POLICE TO CHARGE A PERSON WITH A CRIME, IF A PERSON DOES NOT PROVIDE NAME AND BIRTHDAY, WHEN CONFRONTED BY OFFICERS FOR A VIOLATION. SOME RESIDENTS ARE CONCERNED HOWEVER, BECAUSE THEY SAY SUCH AN ORDINANCE COULD ENCOURAGE PROFILING ON THE BASIS OF RACE, ETHNIC BACKGROUND AND ECONOMIC STATUS.
