AFTER A RATHER RAUCOUS FIRE SEASON THIS YEAR, STATS RELEASED BY THE STATE SAY THAT THIS YEAR’S SEASON WAS THE MOST COSTLY BY FAR. OREGON SUFFERED FROM SOME 1,880 FIRES, THAT CHARRED OVER 800,000 ACRES OF WILDLAND. LARGER THAN THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND. COST ESTIMATES SAID THAT, IN TOTAL, THIS YEAR’S FIRE SEASON COST OREGONIANS SOME $514.6 MILLION DOLLARS. THAT’S QUITE A JUMP FROM $447 MILLION, LAST YEAR.
